A cabin that looks like a small lodge, theForum des vestiges project draws its main inspiration and design from the Roman architectural tradition. Beyond the actual remains and ruins, Roman architectural principles and terms, such as forum, still remain in use today: more than just an architectural term, the forum represents a space – virtual or not – for the open exchange of ideas, for sociable discussion and debate. This wooden construction that resembles a temple, positioned in one of the Villa Medici garden rectangles, provides shelter for architectural remains, has various indoor and outdoor spaces designed to be used either as meeting places or as quieter, private areas. The Forum des vestiges invites visitors to use the cabin and to embrace its philosophical potential.

About Pratique Architecture
Pratique architecture was founded by the architects Gautier Baufils, Gaspard Journet and Vincent Miquelestorena, who have worked together since their graduation from ENSAP in Bordeaux. The collective adopts a simultaneously rational and sensitive approach to architecture, centered around its social and poetic potential. An approach where humility and simplicity are driven by feelings, where sensitivity and common sense become an integral part of an economic strategy alongside a maximization of the value of materials, for the benefit of effective usage and the creation of quality space.
For the Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes 2024, pratique architecture is joined by Morgan Baufils, co-founder of fanum architecture, who places symbolism, storytelling, and the intrinsic meaning embodied by architecture at the heart of their approach.
About the Festival des cabanes des Sources du Lac d’Annecy
The aim of the Festival des cabanes des Sources du Lac d’Annecyis to promote new architecture and to allow a better understanding of architectural practice through the various different ways in which man relates to his environment and the surrounding landscape, whether it is in the Annecy Lake area, or other areas in the region, the country, or even abroad.
