Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes | 2023 Edition

From 24 May to 1 October 2023

Ephemeral installations, micro-architectures, proto-habitats: seven original creations of “cabins” will be installed throughout the summer in the heart of the gardens of the Villa Medici!

For the second year since its creation in 2022, the Villa Medici Festival des Cabanes returns for the whole summer and invites architects, artists and researchers to move into the historic gardens of the Villa Medici.

The 7 projects have been specially designed for the festival by the collectives of architects and design studios ArchiSculpteurs, Atelier CRAFT, Atelier Poem, Aurel Design Urbain, Nelson Wilmotte Architectes, offset and orizzontale.

Displayed in the open air for four months, these structures, which are made of materials that are often reused or part of an eco-responsible approach, offer the public a renewed experience of the gardens of the Villa Medici and invite visitors to rethink the question of the modular and sustainable habitat, as well as that of our relationship with nature.

Through the utopia of the cabin, the collectives adopt an approach that is sensitive to contemporary architectural and environmental issues and take up the challenge of designing projects intimately linked to the historical heritage of the Villa Medici.

Opening time of the exhibition:
Monday to Sunday (closed on Tuesdays) between 10am and 7pm (last entry at 6.30pm)

Full price: 8€ / Reduced price: 6€
TRIBU card holders: 1€
Free for SOLO or DUO card holders

The exhibition ticket also gives partial access to the BAD TIMING exhibition of Théo Mercier.

PREPARE YOUR VISIT

The projects presented in the Festival des Cabanes are ephemeral architectural constructions made accessible to visitors under their full responsibility. Visitors can therefore decide to contemplate them, to observe them and if they wish to climb them. For those who do not wish to climb the Cabanes, the gardens of the Villa Medici offer beautiful views of the Cabanes.
You will be asked to sign a liability waiver prior to purchasing your ticket online. The waiver is available here, please bring this signed document with you if you purchase a ticket on site.

In order to prepare for your visit, we advise you to :
– Bring comfortable shoes (sneakers) for those who wish to climb in the Cabanes;
– Bring a water bottle and a cap for the hot summer days;
– Take note of the waiver that you will be asked to sign to access the Festival des Cabanes.
