Villa Medici is hosting the Italian premiere of the film Nino (2025) by French director Pauline Loquès. Having been screened at various festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival, the Rome Film Festival and the Warsaw Film Festival, and having been nominated for a César Award for Best First Film, the film is now being shown in Rome.
The screening will be presented by Pauline Loquès and the film’s lead actor, Théodore Pellerin, who won the Rising Star award at Cannes and the César for Best Newcomer for this performance.
On the eve of his twenty-ninth birthday, Nino Clavel is hit with devastating news. A life of postponed decisions and commitments made on a whim suddenly takes on a sense of urgency: Nino has three days to make crucial decisions about his future and complete two essential tasks.

Pauline Loquès is a French director and screenwriter. Her first feature film, Nino (2025), premiered at the Cannes Film Festival’s Critics’ Week and won major international awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Rome Film Festival and the Grand Prize at the Warsaw Film Festival. Loquès’ cinema is characterized by an intimate, sensitive style, often focusing on human relationships, emotional transformations and pivotal moments in the lives of young adults. His films combine an intimate look at the characters with a visual sensitivity attentive to the details of everyday life.

Théodore Pellerin (Montreal, 1997) is one of the most interesting Canadian actors of his generation. Active in independent cinema, international productions and television, he has attracted critical attention with films such as Genesis, Never Rarely Sometimes Always, There’s Someone Inside Your House, Solo and Nino. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Canadian Screen Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role for Family First and several Prix Iris du Québec, including Best Actor for Solo. In 2026, he also won the César for Best Emerging Actor for Nino. His intense, natural performance makes him one of the most promising young actors of his generation.
