Villa Medici network

Villa Medici collaborates with a network of institutional partners in France and Italy on a wide range of residency programs and artistic projects.

Each year, the Medici Residences program welcomes established artists, authors and researchers to Villa Medici for residencies of up to three months.

Villa Medici is also developing two specific programs for young audiences: the Résidence Pro for high school students in vocational and agricultural education, and the Résidence Fondation Culture & Diversité for young art school graduates.

Many of these programs are run in conjunction with public or private partners who support and accompany the residencies.

The cultural network in Rome

Villa Medici regularly collaborates with cultural institutions and organizations in Rome as part of cross-programming and cultural partnerships.

The Résidences Pro network

Every year, Villa Medici welcomes several hundred students from French vocational and agricultural high schools for a week-long discovery residency focused on the arts, techniques and crafts.

The ¡Viva Villa! network

Created in 2016, ¡Viva Villa! is an initiative supported by four French residencies abroad: Villa Medici (Rome), Casa de Velázquez (Madrid), Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto) and Villa Albertine (USA). Each year, ¡Viva Villa! co-produces around ten multidisciplinary events across France (exhibitions, concerts, performances, publishing projects, etc.), involving artists and researchers in residence. This program offers the French public the opportunity to discover the work they have carried out during their residencies in Rome, Madrid, Kyoto and the United States.

The network of production exchanges

Thanks to a production grant scheme, Villa Medici supports its boarders by co-financing, with the help of cultural partners, the projects they have initiated during their residency in Rome. The introduction of this aid scheme in 2018 has brought on board numerous partners, creating a leverage effect so that the artists' projects can see the light of day.
