Institutional partners

The Villa Medici network

Villa Medici collaborates with a network of institutional partners in France and Italy on a wide range of residency programs and artistic projects.

Each year, the Medici Residency program welcomes established artists, authors and researchers to Villa Medici for residencies of up to three months.

Villa Medici is also developing two specific youth programs: the Résidence Pro for high school students in vocational and agricultural education, and the Résidence Fondation Culture & Diversité for young art school graduates.

Many of these programs are run in conjunction with public or private partners who support and supervise the residencies.

The cultural network in Rome

Villa Medici regularly collaborates with cultural institutions and organizations in Rome, which results in joint programs and cultural partnerships.

The Résidences Pro network

Each year, Villa Medici hosts several hundred students from French vocational and agricultural secondary schools for a weeklong residency focused on discovering arts, techniques and crafts.

The ¡Viva Villa! network

Established in 2016, ¡Viva Villa! is an initiative supported by four French residencies abroad: Villa Medici (Rome), Casa de Velázquez (Madrid), Villa Kujoyama (Kyoto), and Villa Albertine (United States). Each year, ¡Viva Villa! co-produces a dozen multidisciplinary events throughout France (exhibitions, concerts, performances, publishing projects, and so on), involving the artists and researchers in residencies. This program offers French audiences the opportunity to discover the work done by artists during their residencies in Rome, Madrid, Kyoto, and the United States.

The production fellowship network

Thanks to a production fellowship scheme and with the help of cultural partners, Villa Medici supports its fellows by co-financing the projects they initiated during their residency in Rome. Introducing this financial aid scheme in 2018 has brought on board numerous partners, creating a leverage effect so that the artists' projects can see the light of day.
