Biography

Founded in 2014 by artists Amaury Daurel and Victor Delestre, Deborah Bowmann is a fictitious identity and imaginary firm, one of whose main aspirations is to rethink the figure of the artist, proposing a system of exchange between an artistic production and an exhibition space. Deborah Bowmann thus articulates a closely related studio practice and curatorial practice, embracing and merging the diverse activities of studio practice, administrative management, curating and scenography.

Project

The setting of Villa Medici provides an opportunity for artists to show that the notions of spectacle and narration are not exclusively the domain of large-scale devices, and that they can just as well be applied in a domestic format and in a range of gestures more modest than those in a theater. The duo Deborah Bowmann is particularly interested in the idea that housing – a recurring aspect of their practice – could also become a space for ‘staging’ and encounters here.
