Biography

Adele Tulli is a film director and researcher, exploring innovative documentary forms and essayistic film practices. Following an MA in Documentary at Goldsmiths and a PhD in Media and Communications at Roehampton University, she also teaches non-fiction, experimental cinema and video art. Tulli’s works have been screened and exhibited internationally at numerous venues and festivals including the Berlinale in Berlin, Locarno Film Festival, Lincoln Center in NY, MAXXI Museum in Rome, Fondazione Prada in Milan, ICA in London, among others.

Project

Tulli will carry out research for an audiovisual work on Orlando Fiore, a Roman artist who lived between 1933 and 1988, whose existence remained entirely unknown until the discovery of his diaries and paintings, last year. In collaboration with the organisation founded to shed light on the artistic and biographical journey of this eclectic and nonconformist painter, Tulli is mapping out the places where he lived (between Rome, London and Iran), and interviewing the few people still alive who knew him, to retrace the key moments of his life. Homosexual, irreverent and an outsider by choice, Fiore emerges today as a radical and visionary figure, until now completely forgotten by history.
