Sparks / Sparkles

The catalog accompanies the “Étincelles / Scintille” exhibition, open from June 15 to August 7, 2022 at Villa Medici.

The Étincelles / Scintille exhibition brings together the work of sixteen artists, authors and researchers from the Villa Médicis residents at the end of their year of residency, combining various artistic disciplines: visual arts, musical composition, literature, architecture, stage direction, art history and theory.

The 16 projects presented are the culmination of a year of experimentation and the cohabitation of different practices and individuals, with a creative journey shaped for the occasion, addressing recurring themes: accumulation, the reiteration of gestures and signs, political reflection in art, the representation of fragmented bodies, the relationship between natural and artificial landscape.
