Villa Médicis is delighted to invite author Christine Angot to a meeting to discuss her latest book, La Nuit sur commande, published in 2025 by Stock.
“I remember walking through the streets of Châteauroux when I was four, five, six, seven… on my way to school. I was passing through a small cobbled alleyway that ran alongside the museum. I remember walking between the walls, singing the latest Sheila songs, and looking down from my waist at the black patent shoes my mother had just bought me. I had no idea what my life was going to be like. The future didn’t worry me at all. On the contrary.”
Christine Angot’s “Night at the Museum” at the Bourse de Commerce.
La Nuit au musée is a collection created by Editions Stock. Writers are invited to spend a night in the museum of their choice, and to write a book based on the experience. The result is a series of surprising, poetic and fascinating texts that explore different territories, philosophical, aesthetic and sociological reflections, and pure literary creation.
Following in the footsteps of Kamel Daoud, Leïla Slimani, Éric Chevillard and Lola Lafon, Christine Angot has chosen to spend the night at the Bourse de Commerce in Paris. La Nuit sur commande is the resulting book.
Christine Angot is the author of numerous novels, including Léonore, toujours (1994), L’Inceste (1999), Rendez-vous (2006), Le Marché des amants (2008), Une semaine de vacances (2012) and Un amour impossible (2015), which won the Prix Décembre and was adapted for the cinema and the stage at the Odéon. Le Voyage dans l’Est won the Prix Médicis, and was directed by Stanislas Nordey at Les Amandiers. In 2024, she directed her first film, Une famille.
