On the day after Valentine’s Day, come celebrate the many facets of friendship at Villa Medici, as part of the Carte Blanche granted to Michelin-starred Chef Alexandre Gauthier, accompanied by the team from La Grenouillère. Citrus tastings, tangy crêpes, artistic encounters, and musical performances will enrich this festive day, highlighting the sparkling essence of friendship.

In reference to the citrus tasting he proposed in 2024, Michelin-starred Chef Alexandre Gauthier highlights the citrus heritage of Villa Medici during a celebration of sharing.

The combination of citrus varieties from the gardens of the Todolí Foundation and tangy crêpes will delight your taste buds and add zest to your friendships.

After this convivial meal sharing, the renowned contemporary artist Annette Messager will offer her humble, unique, and wondrous perspective on friendship in a personal conversation.

The celebration will conclude with a baroque choir of twenty singers, conducted by Riccardo Martinini, and musical connections from singers Juliette Armanet and Eddy de Pretto, performed in a spirit of camaraderie.

Alexandre Gauthier

At 45, Alexandre Gauthier occupies a special place on the French culinary scene. For more than 20 years now, Alexandre has been pursuing a free-spirited path, free of the usual frameworks and habits. For him, cooking is a way of expressing himself, a form of formal research, an assiduous look at what surrounds and moves him. Rooted in the land, respectful of French know-how, it is no less free or autonomous. The Gauthier style is unique, made up of cutting-edge techniques, angled glances, perfect gestures, carefully chosen dishes and words. In the end, the experience is total, disconcerting enough to make a lasting impression. Little by little, the restaurant La Grenouillère has been transformed into a place in its own right, welcoming and theatrical, embodying an art of living that is both eminently contemporary and totally natural.

Eddy de Pretto

When you discover Kid, his first EP from 2017, the impact is unique. Spitting his lyrics alone on stage with just an iPhone to accompany him, Eddy de Pretto questions what differences, barriers, and masculinity are, affirming himself on the margins but already embracing a sound that resonates and shakes society. His first album, Cure (2018), participates in the evolutions of his generation, its awakenings, and its stances. The success is overwhelming: triple platinum with over 300,000 copies sold and four nominations at the Victoires de la Musique. For his second album, À tous les bâtards (2021), he unveils himself in stories that, though they belong only to him, echo in each of us. Quickly certified gold, this project confirms the unifying and popular nature of the artist. In the same year, his work comes to life through a series of six dates at the Bataclan and a new tour across France’s Zéniths. In November 2024, he makes his big return with his third studio album, CRASH CŒUR. With this album, he explores his deepest desires, mixing R’n’B sounds and raw, torn lyrics, liberated from the expectations placed on him. A year after its release, he unveils the reissue CRASH CŒUR+, enriched with new tracks, set to release on November 1st. Still between introspection, the search for meaning, and unfulfilled desires, this revisited album dives into subtle and nuanced universes, offering a sensitive and precise look at the emotions that shape our time.

Annette Messager

Annette Messager was born in 1943 in Berck (Pas-de-Calais) and lives and works in Malakoff. Since the 1970s, her work has been inspired by everyday life and critiques the clichés spread about women. Her work tackles both intimate and political/social themes. Influenced by Surrealism, autofiction, literature, and cinema, Annette Messager always uses a certain humor to play with ambivalences and antitheses to better express the complexity and versatility of feelings and emotions. In addition to found objects, often symbolic or laden with memory on which she intervenes, assembling or staging them, she employs a variety of media such as drawing, photography, textiles, painting, sculpture, and movement.

Internationally recognized, Annette Messager received the Golden Lion at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 for the best national participation and the Praemium Imperiale in Japan in 2016. She was made a Commander of the Legion of Honor in 2022. Her works are in the world’s largest public and private collections and are regularly exhibited in the most prestigious museums worldwide. Her exhibition Desire Desorder at the Power Station in Shanghai has just concluded. A solo exhibition was dedicated to her in 2017 at Villa Medici. She is represented by the Marian Goodman Gallery in New York, Paris, and Los Angeles.
