Profession: Photographer Assaf Shoshan was born in 1973 in Jerusalem where he studied philosophy and attended the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. Sharing his time between Paris and Tel Aviv for more than ten years, Assaf Shoshan investigates the reality of his native country through the prism of history and autobiography, questioning its strange political and daily life. His recent works are poised between reality and fiction, exploring issues associated to “Waiting Territories”, which mark the path of immigrants and refugees in Israel and Palestine. His time at Villa Medici will be devoted to following the partners of prisoners held behind bars at Regina Coeli, one of the oldest prisons of Rome. His project,
Peines Partagées , sets out to follow groups of women who meet regularly at the nearby Gianicolo Gardens to shout messages to their loved ones.
