Villa Medici is pleased to invite you to the Malik Djoudi concert, accompanied by the cellist Gaspar Claus. This concert is part of the second special event of the programme linked to the Orient-Express exhibition, and closes the night. It is preceded by a writing workshop led by Anne Reverseau on the subject of train travel.
As part of his residency as a guest artist, Malik Djoudi invites his long-time friend Gaspar Claus to revisit his repertoire for this new concert. Together they will cover songs from the albums Un (2017), Tempérament (2019) and Troie (2021). The two musicians will use the magic of piano, voice and cello to immerse the audience in the artist’s pop and melancholic atmosphere.
Malik Djoudi composes electronic music, at the frontier between French variety and club music, reconciling the synthetic pop of the 80s with melancholic lyrics. Intimate and sensual, his music has been shaped over the course of his last three albums: Un (2017), Tempéraments (2019), which earned him a nomination for “Revelation Album of the Year” at the 2020 Victoires de la Musique, and Troie (2021). He has signed numerous collaborations, notably with Philippe Katerine and Isabelle Adjani.
Malik Djoudi
Malik Djoudi is a French electro-pop singer-songwriter. Originally from the Vienne department of France, he first worked in the world of television and cinema, then with three pop-rock bands: Moon Pallas, Kim Tim and Alan Cock, in which he wrote the compositions and sang in English. Since 2017, he has devoted himself to his career as a solo artist.
Malik Djoudi is doing his residency as a part of the writing process of his next album. This residency is an opportunity for him to immerse himself in the Roman setting and the Villa Medici in order not only to compose new songs, but also to rework his older work.
