La timidité des cimes

La timidité des cimes is a tribute to the sacred woods, lucus, of mythology. It represents a portion of forest in which the tops of the trees do not touch and make up a mosaic. The emblematic figure of reference is the pine, the species par excellence of the Roman landscape. The title of the project evokes the formal configuration of the cabin as well as the path of the users composing a second mosaic.

The work, positioned at the entrance of the garden, plays a role of threshold. It is a transient space between the driveway and the square accompanying the visitor in a sensory experience that recalls a walk in the shade of the foliage.

The cabin fits in with the historic gardens of the Villa Medici through a simple geometry given by the juxtaposition of fifteen identical modules. The distance between them brings in light and gives way to different patterns throughout the day.

About Atelier Poem

Atelier Poem, from the ancient Greek poíêma (creation) and poiéô (act), is an architectural workshop that bases its practice on the act of “making”. A fabrication, understood as a power to act, which thus goes beyond the concrete action of construction.

Alice Cecchini and Roman Joliy, the founders, seek in their practice to make manifest the essence of things, from the work as a whole to the details. This manifests itself in projects that weave relationships between individuals and the identity of the place through unique narratives.

Atelier Poem thinks of architecture as a sensitive process in which the complexity of each parameter of the project is resolved by simple and pure concepts; a poetics that models materials and light according to their emotional capacities.
