Fellow’s Annual Exhibition “Dans le tourbillon du tout-monde”

Annual exhibition of the artists in residence at the French Academy in Rome — Villa Medici
Dans le tourbillon du tout-monde
10 July – 13 September 2020
Curated by Lorenzo Romito

This group exhibition brings together the achievements of the sixteen resident artists and researchers working in the broad field of creation: the visual arts, design, architecture, music composition, film, literature and art history.

The projects presented are the fruit of research, activities and reflections nourished by the residents during their residency at the Villa Medici, and which, through their content and expressive forms, bear the imprint of the upheavals of the current year. The works exhibited highlight the articulation between individual creations and the common project, create bridges between disciplines and draw trajectories that bear witness to this singular moment of collective consciousness.

Dans le tourbillon du tout-monde is an invitation to the public’s attention, a rendez-vous with an exhibition that comes into being after a period of deep uncertainty.

The exhibition brings together the works of the sixteen residents for the year 2019-2020:

Sammy Baloji (photographer and visual artist), Frédérique Barchelard and Flavien Menu (architects), Benjamin Crotty (cinema), Pauline Curnier Jardin (artist), Bastien David (composer), Samuel Gratacap (photographer), Valentina Hristova (art historian), Mathieu Larnaudie (writer), François Olislaeger (cartoonist), Louise Sartor (visual artist), Fanny Taillandier (writer), Sébastien Thiéry (writer), Mikel Urquiza (composer), Jeanne Vicerial (researcher & textile designer), Sara Vitacca (art historian).
