The French Academy in Rome welcomes at Villa Medici every year in September a new class of fellows for a period of 12 months. The selection competition is open to French-speaking artists and researchers of all nationalities, aged from 20 to 45 (at the time of their stay in Rome) who are selected for their projects and personal dossiers on the criterion of excellence.
Candidates can apply from all creative artistic disciplines as well as history and theory of art and the restoration and preservation of artworks or monuments.
Fellows benefit from a research grant and an allowance for individual lodgings and studios or work areas for a period of 12 months.
In the historic setting of Villa Medici, in liaison with the city of Rome and Italy, they benefit from multidisciplinary opportunities, notably, a group presentation in the Theatre of Exhibitions, whose form changes yearly. Each promotion is accompanied by the Nouveau Prix de Rome, a personality of international stature, who will be able to make a significant contribution to the activities of the French Academy in Rome and participate in high-level exchanges with the residents.
The call is open every year in Jannuary.
